Protecting bodies of water

Farms close to water are subject to limits for crop spraying, based on what body of water they are near (streams, rivers, lakes, or springs).

Harvested pods should not be stored near water to prevent crop protection products from seeping into the water. Farmers must also maintain a buffer zone of at least five meters between bodies of water and their cocoa farms. This buffer must be planted with vegetative cover to limit contamination with crop protection products.
